Contingency and Diversions Contingency If for any reason essential equipment at the Border Inspection Post is unserviceable and it is not possible to offload the animals from their travelling containers at that facility, animals may be offloaded, under DEFRA supervision, at the Cargo Transit Shed and be taken to the BIP in their road transport vehicles for the completion of import inspection and formalities. Diversions If, for any reason, a flight carrying animals from a non EU country is diverted to Stansted Airport, irrespective of its final intended destination, DEFRA and BIP must be notified at the earliest possible opportunity. If adequate ventilation and other facilities can be provided that will allow the animals to Remain on Board the aircraft (ROB) before it proceeds to its intended destination, a Border Crossing Document will not be issued in Stansted and the BIP procedures must be undertaken at the final destination. If the animals are to offloaded at Stansted, the full inspection process must be complied with and a Border Crossing Document will be issued. This applies even if the animals are to be reloaded onto the aircraft for final carriage to the intended destination with the EU. |
